Sound Energy
Inc is a private company incorporated on Sept 26th 2002.
The current officers and directors are Jack A Carthy
(President and Director), John Termuende (Vice President
and Director) and Harmen J. Keyser (Director). The company
was formed to develop environmentally friendly run of
river hydro electric projects.
The company is developing a 15 MW power plant with joint ownership partner Box Canyon Hydro Corp.
The power project will involve taping water from Box Canyon, Mardi and Cascara Creeks.
All three creeks are tributaries of McNab Creek located
on the Sunshine Coast peninsula, on the North West side
of Howe Sound between Port Mellon and Woodfibre.
The sites chosen are deemed very desirable from a
development standpoint. Over 500 meters of hydraulic
head, limited environmental concerns and a near by 138KV
British Columbia Transmission Corporation power line
that has already been approved for an interconnection.
Transportation is relatively easy with tide water access
and a good logging road infrastructure.
The company has been actively measuring and monitoring
the water resources in this area since 2002.
Knight Piesold Consulting Engineers were engaged to
evaluate the hydrology and develop feasibility studies
for the sites under consideration.
The Company is a successful bidder in the Clean Power Call Request For Proposals (RFP) on June 11, 2008
and has recently signed a 40 year energy purchase agreement with BC Hydro
Recent developments at the political level both federally
and provincially would seem to indicate that the demand
for green energy is growing and all levels of Government
will continue to encourage the development of this type
of resource.
